Kelly Smith
Kelly Smith is a Registered Yoga Teacher and has been teaching since 2003. Kelly received her RYT200 from Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, California and has also trained in Hatha, Iyenyar style (focusing on precision & alignment), Vinyasa flow (continuous movement with breath), Restorative (relaxed, medatative, passive poses using pillows), Partener yoga (contact helps support & deepen poses gently), Pranayama (breath control to calm stress & central nervous system), Visualization and Meditation (learn how easy it is through a guided journey). Kelly has always been very physically active in sports such as gymnastics, volleyball, hiking, swimming, white water rafting and even jumping out of a perfectly good airplane (with a chute of course)!! She sustained a car accident, which eventually resulted in back surgery, and developed Systemic Lupus due to the stress on her system. Kelly strongly believes that every life challenge has a gift. "We need to find something positive and if we can't find it, we need to create it." Kelly began doing chair yoga in 2001 with the aid of a walker as part of her own recovery. Yoga has changed her life so much that she wanted to help others learn how to take care of themselves, so they can have a healthier, more fulfilling life. She has always been passionate about teaching and helping people. Her classes focus on meeting people where they are at; ranging from beginner and modified for physical challenges to a more intermediate workout (yes, you can sweat doing yoga!!) "Chronic stress" has become an epidemic in our society. This stress is manifesting all sorts of "dis-ease" in our bodies, from headaches to fatigue and more serious illnesses such as cancer and diabetes. Kelly teaches the importance of breathing techniques and meditation to reduce stress and empower ourselves by living in the moment. You don't need to be flexible or have any yoga experience.
